Tambopata: Peruvian Amazon Experience | Goway Travel

SAVE $100 WITH PROMO CODE: OUTPOST

The Tambopata Research Center is a simple, comfortable lodge situated on the world’s largest macaw clay lick. Having no neighbours, it is unrivaled in its access to pristine Amazon forest, bringing you up close and personal with nature on your Peru vacation.

With 60% of its land area covered by Amazon Rainforest, Peru boasts the largest number of bird species on Earth, and the third-largest number of mammals. Many of them reside within the Amazon Jungle, and these 5 days at the Tambopata Research Center lets you enjoy a guided immersion into the region.

You’ll enjoy time at leisure to explore the forest your way—but options to help you get the most out of your adventure include the largest known macaw clay lick, numerous nature trails, palm swamp, night walks, and kayaking on the Tambopata River. Roaming the forest, you may see howler and spider monkeys, caimans and tapir, but you’ll have to look sharp to spot the occasional jaguar prowling the forest!

Here’s details from Goway Travel:

Itinerary Overview

Day 1  Refugio Amazonas. Due to the distance between Puerto Maldonado and the Tambopata Research Centre, a stopover is required before and after your journey at the Refugio Amazonas.

Day 2 Tambopata National Reserve. Located in the uninhabited heart of the Tambopata National Reserve where the surrounding wilderness is untouched is the Tambopata Lodge. The largest known macaw clay lick is five hundred yards from the lodge. Dusky headed titi, squirrel, brown capuchin, howler, and spider monkeys, as well as capybara, caiman and agouti are seen frequently. Although very difficult to see, herds of peccary, tapir and jaguar are all at their carrying capacity.
